Transmitting Our Values to Our Children...

"Uri & Itamar"
Check out this very worthwhile video featuring an animated discussion (in hebrew) between R' Uri Zohar & his son, dealing with their differing values and viewpoints. R' Uri, once hailed as "the Israeli version of Woody Allen, Robert Redford, Johnny Carson, and Lenny Bruce all rolled into one"- is one of Israel's most passionate and well-known spokesman for Torah values and mitzva observance.
I thought this was particularly relevant during the week of Parshat Toldot, which deals with Yitzchak Avinu and his two sons- Yakov Avinu, who embraces his father's "derech", and Eisav, who - to put it mildly- veers from the path of his father & grandfather, and represents a completely opposing worldview.
Chazal cite Yitzchak Avinu's "Gevurah" (rigidity, boundaries, restraint, strict nature) as a factor in Eisav's rejection of his fathers' way. Without judging Rav Uri or his son Itamar, we parents and teachers have alot to think about as we attempt to transmit our values, beliefs and ideals to the next generation...
